Introduction Miswak, derived from the Salvadora persica tree, has been used for centuries as a natural toothbrush. Its effectiveness in maintaining oral hygiene has been recognized by the World Health Organization. Recent studies have explored its potential benefits and applications in modern dentistry, leading to innovative advancements. Clinical Effectiveness Recent research has highlighted the clinical effectiveness of miswak in controlling plaque and gingivitis. A study comparing the use of a miswak toothbrush, a traditional miswak chewing stick, and a standard toothbrush found that all three methods significantly improved plaque levels and gingival health.
